In this six-week class, we’ll be looking at the ways in which we, as the church, are at risk of buying into the lies of the culture around us. We’ll look at lies such as: Live Your Truth, Expressive Individualism, Affirmation, Choosing Your Own Happiness and others. This class is for anyone who is 1. Unsure how to respond to a culture that seems more divided and less concerned with truth every day. 2. Willing to examine our own hearts and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal how we have allowed these cultural lies into our own lives and the lives of our children. 3. Open to learning how to redirect our hearts and repent and submit to biblical truth.
Paul says, in his sermon at the Areopagus in Athens to the Greeks (Acts 17), that “God is not like gold or silver or stone–an image made by human design and skill.” Then he commands them to repent and turn from these idols, these creations of human design and skill, to the Living and True God. My hope is that together we can turn from the cultural lies and idols made by human design and skill and encourage one another to preserve biblical truth in our own hearts and the hearts of future generations of believers.
