A Place to Call HOME Sermon 2

Preached by Pastor Bryan Clark

Luke 12:13-21

Sunday, Feb 9, 2020

Discussion Questions:

1. Recall the introductory story about the daughter who realized the grip of money on her heart. Share a time when God has revealed to you the power of money over your own heart.

2. Jesus insists that life does not consist in the abundance of possessions, a statement confirmed by an avalanche of empirical evidence over the years. Why is it so hard for us to really believe that and live accordingly?  Our culture? Advertising? Our upbringing?

3. The rich man in the story gives great thought to hoarding, but not to giving. Can you recall a time when sacrificial giving helped break the grip of greed on your own heart?

4. Jesus suggests in Matthew 23:23 that tithing should go hand in hand with the “more important matters” of justice and mercy. How does sacrificial giving prepare us to address these important matters more effectively?

Please think and pray about making a 3-yr commitment to the A Place to Call Home campaign. Reminder: We will turn in our commitment cards during the worship service on Sunday, March 1.
