New Adult Discipleship Classes Start

January 13, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

We will be offering the following classes for adults on Sundays at 10 AM, Jan 13 – April 14:

Broken Heroes: The Book of Judges. Assassins. Human sacrifice. Murder. Civil war. Treason. Gang rape. Like Game of Thrones, the book of Judges has been acclaimed for its complex characters and enthralling story but criticized for graphic sex and violence. Why are these dark and thrilling stories in the Bible?   Verse-by-verse commentary and discussion. Led by Pastor Bryan. (WARNING: adult themes). Held in the Auditorium. Will be recorded.
Testimony of the Masterpieces
Would you like to stretch your eye, ear, and heart for beauty? Guided by Terry Glaspey’s book, 75 Masterpieces Every Christian Should Know, this class will engage with two or three masterpieces of Christian art (and the artists) each week. Visual arts, architecture, music, and literature: some masterworks date back to Roman times, while a few are as new as the twenty-first century. Textbook not required. Facilitated by Kathy Gillin. Held in the Library.

Life Serving the Lord — Showing Faith through Works—Really?!
Each class will center on three goals:
1.  To examine and to extol the Biblically-based service privilege God has revealed to us;
2.  To ignite, rekindle, or stoke the fires of our passion to serve our Lord;
3.  To examine practical issues for fulfilling our service privilege and mandate.
Each week we examine a single question in light of the goals. Here are two examples: “What is (or should be) our motivation to serve?” and “How do we grow in godliness — a key component for effective service?” Taught by Chuck Kendrick. Held in the Cafeteria.
