Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me.” At Trinity Church we seek to encourage opportunities for young ones to get to know Jesus. We are committed to helping every child under our care to know and experience God’s love for them, and to grow into wise and compassionate young adults who love God, their neighbors, and the world. We seek to do this in several ways as described below.
We encourage the presence of children in every aspect of our worship service. However, we recognize that many parents of infants and toddlers prefer to have childcare assistance during worship, and most young children benefit from age-appropriate teaching. In order to enrich the worship experience for both children and parents, we provide:
We provide nursery care for children ages 2 and under in a safe, clean and fun environment. Nursery is available during the Discipleship Class time (10-10:45 AM) and during the Sunday Worship service (8:30 – 9:45 AM and 11 AM-12:15 PM.) Please bring a bag containing diapers, cup or bottle, pacifier, blanket, etc.
During the sermon, we provide worship training for children PreK through 1st grade. In Worship Training, young children enjoy games and craft activities, songs, and engaging, age appropriate stories that communicates the reality of God’s love for them. They are also prepared to participate in corporate worship by talking about why we pray, sing, listen to sermons and take communion.
Children’s ministry is centered on discipling the next generation—preparing them as lifelong followers of Jesus Christ. Our Discipleship Classes are for children of all ages. These classes use a curriculum called Show Me Jesus. Children are given opportunity to receive a well-rounded understanding of the Bible that centers on getting to know Jesus better. No registration is necessary. Classes are before the worship service each Sunday from 10-10:45 AM (between Labor Day and Memorial Day) at Petra Academy.
One of the most powerful ways that children grow in their faith and love for Jesus is by reading the Bible and praying with their parents. Therefore, we provide helpful resources and encouragement for families to worship together at home. For example, two resources we often recommend are the Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Long Story Short: Ten-Minute Devotions to Draw Your Family to God by Marty Machowski.
Unfortunately, many of us grew up without positive models for parenting which we desire to emulate. As a result, one of the great needs that parents have is for mentorship and training in how to raise their children. We provide such training formally through parenting classes and seminars as well as articles and book recommendations. Informally, we encourage parents to support one another through relationships with mentors and peers.
