Student Ministry: Youth (6th-12th grades)
We want to give youth the opportunity to form authentic relationships with one another and to really get to know Jesus Christ on a personal level. While youth need time with one another, we also believe that they need time with other adults in the church who care about them and can mentor them and model what it means to be a godly man or woman in today’s culture. Here’s how youth (6th-12 grade) can get involved:
Sundays, 10 AM-10:45 AM (School year). What is God’s Story? Who are we in God’s story? What are we created for? What is the Gospel? Come join us as we walk through God’s Word book by book and answer some of the big picture questions that identify the Christian faith.
Sundays, 10 AM-10:45 AM (School year). What does it mean to have right belief and right behavior? It’s often so difficult in our Christian faith to take what we know about God in our heads and apply it to our hearts. Our goal with our high school discipleship class is to help students have a heart for God, not just by knowing and believing the gospel but also hungering and thirsting after Christ.
Year 1: Right Belief and Right Behavior. (Apostles’ Creed, 10 Commandments & The Sermon on The Mount.)
Year 2: The Christian Life and God’s Word. (Relationships, dating, sex, families etc.)
Year 3: The Church and God’s Word. (The necessity of a life-long relationship with the Body of Christ.)
Year 4: The Christian Life and God’s Word. (What is God’s plan for my life? How do I live the Christian life in College?).
Junior High Youth Group (6th-8th grades)
Our 6th and 7th graders meet on various Friday evenings. Meets at Petra Academy.
Youth Group (9th-12th grades)
Wednesday nights, 7-8:30 PM (school year). Bring your friends! We strive to make Wednesday nights a breath of fresh air in the middle of a crazy week! Our time includes hanging out, activities/games, biblical teaching and small group discussion/prayer. Meets at Petra Academy.
Early each year, students (6th-12th grade) head up to Yellowstone Alliance Adventures for the weekend for our annual Winter Retreat! We have a great time hanging out, playing broom hockey, flying down the tubing hill and playing games. We have a spiritual emphasis theme each year that drives our evening programs of worship and teaching. Details will be in the fall Student Ministries Newsletter.
Small Group Discipleship
There are lots of opportunities for students to connect with and be mentored by adults who care, who are relevant, and who have a passion for Christ. Student discipleship can be seen in action during our Wednesday night gatherings as well as one-on-one discipleship as students and leaders get to know one another better. We have a committed group of student leaders who would love to get to know you! Come visit us on Wednesdays or Sundays!
Our Vision for Student Ministry
TSM Vision: To display the beauty of the gospel to jr. high and high school students by living alongside them and pointing them to a vital and life-long commitment to Christ’s church. To teach students the necessity of God’s Word for knowing God, following Jesus and growing in Christ. To encourage students to cultivate beauty in the lives of their families, friends, and communities through biblical life practices and patters both now and in the future.
